Vacancies on the Iowa Commission of Latino Affairs
State law requires most boards and commissions be balanced
according to gender and political affiliation. Geographical location
and diversity is also considered. Appointments are made to most boards
and commissions annually. All applications are kept on file as public information.
Boards and commissions are responsible for advising the
Governor and Lt. Governor, the legislature and state agencies. The
Governor and Lt. Governor are looking for qualified applicants who are
strong believers in becoming an active voice in state government.
If you are interested in volunteering to serve in the Iowa
Commission of Latino Affairs, fill out an online application for
consideration by the Governor and Lt. Governor.
The Iowa commission of Latino Affairs gets
to:
- Coordinate, assist, and
cooperate with the efforts of state departments and agencies to
serve the needs of Latino persons in the fields of education,
employment, health, housing, welfare, and recreation.
- Develop, coordinate,
and assist other public organizations which serve Latino persons.
Evaluate existing programs and proposed legislation affecting
Latino persons, and propose new programs.
- Stimulate public awareness
of the problems of Latino persons by conducting a program of
public education and encouraging the governor and the general
assembly to develop programs to deal with these problems.
- Conduct training
programs for Latino persons to enable them to assume leadership
positions on the community level.
